Prepare to enter the wild and wooly world of an adult with Aspergers Syndrome, a form of autism characterized by intellignce, quirks, social difficulties and downright strange and oddish behaviours.

People with Aspergers generally are high functioning in everyday life but have great difficulty connecting with others due to the inability to read faces, body language and subtle verbal clues. They also tend to take words literally and have a hard time multi-tasking.

Oversensitivity to touch (clothing has to be soft and often the tags removed), light (do not leave home without the sunglasses), sound (loud noises and noisey places are avoided), taste (many Aspies have quite a limited diet and are frequently very picky eaters) and smells makes the everyday existence more of a challenge.

Fasten your seatbelts and come on in...

I value myself

  1. Good for you! They aren't worth the effort.
Cling instead to the ones that are kindred, that do understand, and that value and appreciate you just as you are. Believe me, I know how hard they are to find. :-( But you've found (and created) a few in your real life so far, and occasionally others pop up in odd places... ::see me bouncing like Tigger?:: :-)

  2. Well done, my friend.

Does ANYONE ever really need "opposition parties", in their life?!

  3. Hi KatKnip, Big :). I am so happy with my supportive, highly intelligent online friends. Sometimes ideas just strike me and the words flow straight from my heart. I held on too long to some...it was time to make peace within.
    Nice Bounce!!! Amy

  4. Glad you're smiling and I hope you're starting to feel better.
Yeah, online helps. :-) It would be nice to have friends to actually see and touch in the real world, but for me it seems impossible now. I feel pretty hopeless about it.
If I were nearby and you could tolerate me, I'd gladly sit with you when you're sick or tag along thrift shopping when you're better. The mundane shared with someone who can put up with me is really all it takes to make me happy.
