Prepare to enter the wild and wooly world of an adult with Aspergers Syndrome, a form of autism characterized by intellignce, quirks, social difficulties and downright strange and oddish behaviours.

People with Aspergers generally are high functioning in everyday life but have great difficulty connecting with others due to the inability to read faces, body language and subtle verbal clues. They also tend to take words literally and have a hard time multi-tasking.

Oversensitivity to touch (clothing has to be soft and often the tags removed), light (do not leave home without the sunglasses), sound (loud noises and noisey places are avoided), taste (many Aspies have quite a limited diet and are frequently very picky eaters) and smells makes the everyday existence more of a challenge.

Fasten your seatbelts and come on in...

Newport to Eugene

A perfect day for a drive. The morn was cool, crisp and misty. I drove to Waldport, to Florence along the coast and then headed east.
I stopped along the way to marvel at the ferns gently blowing as they grew within the thick moss on the trees. There were breathtaking ocean beach views as I hugged the mountain along 101. I didn't stop for photos as heights make me nervous and quite queasy. Just take my word for it, I was driving cliffside. Lol

Driftwood Beach

I adored Driftwood Beach. It was just me, alone along a long stretch of virgin beach layered with three different rows of beach treasures, rocks and shells.
I leisurely strolled, examining rocks and bagging a few interesting specimens.
It was the first beach with rocks that weren't monochromatic dark black. I found my first Oregon agates! One that is the color of the sun. I found rocks of bright red, yellows, mottled greens, blacks with multi-colored streaks...just a cornucopia of delights.
The peacefulness is powerful. The ocean truly grand. I love it!

The Awesome Sea Lions

This was so much fun. Watching and listening to the sea lions.

Newport Bayfront

Whilst I find the main drag through Newport uninspiring, a simple left down toward the bayfront, with the fishing boats , murals and quirky shopfronts is quite a different story, almost like the artsy, colorful district that you go to play in.
As I walked along the fleet, I heard these odd sounds, like barking. I followed the sound and ended up on one of the public piers staring down at a passel of California Sea Lions basking, frolicking and hollering just 15 feet in the water from me. Oh, joy!
I had never seen sea lions free, wild and in their natural habitat.

A Day of Rest

Yeah, I'm pretty tired today so it's been a day of rest and heavy sleep. Listening to my body and not pushing it.
Enjoying my relaxing day😊

Rainbow to start the day

Fort Stevens and ELK

I kept seeing Elk signs along 101 north. So, sure enough, as I turned to check out the Fort Stevens cemetery, lo and behold, three beautiful beasts, the size of which would put out little Michigan whitetails to shame.

More Sunset Beach before the tide turned

Sunset is truly a remarkable beach. Long, sprawling, isolated. I believe the little blue puffy things are those blue sailor jellyfish but I forget their proper name. I had read where they covered entire beaches when the wind was right. I didn't realize how tiny they were.
The waves really roiled, boiled and turned, twisting into one another, taller than I as I observed them from shore.
The sun was out all day today, a first. Lovely and calm.
